Announcing our Candidates for Staveley North and Woodthorpe

By Louis Hollingworth on 2026-04-23

Hard working local campaigners Alison Riley and Robert Ferrie have been confirmed as the Green Party candidates in the Chesterfield Borough Council by-election for Staveley North on 7th May 2026. Alison and Robert know it is important to listen to the concerns of our community and stand up for our area. Unlike other parties, Green councillors are free to vote in the best interest of local people and don’t have to follow a party line. Candidates from other parties can’t promise you that.

Alison and Robert will only ever act in the interests of all residents. A vote for your Alison and Robbie is a vote for a new independent voices for Staveley North who will work to make sure the Labour run Council are properly held to account.

Alison said “So many people tell me they are fed up with the main parties. Locally, you know what you get with Green Party candidates: hard work, keeping you up to date all year, every year and a strong voice for Staveley North.

Robert said “I’ll work with others to find solutions, and won’t vote for things that waste money”.

As the warmer weather arrives, it’s easy to forget the services we want and need to get us through the colder months. My promise is to continue to put local services first throughout the year and make sure the voice of local residents are heard within the council. I am passionate about protecting outdoor spaces for recreation and leisure use. Keeping a check on antisocial behaviour that all too often can spoil everybody’s enjoyment of the warmer weather. As a recognisable figure in the local community, I am happy to stop and chat to hear your thoughts and comments on the things that matter to you.

Supporting residents is central to my approach, ensuring our community receives appropriate services tailored to our needs. This includes identifying key issues in the ward and advocating for improvements such as better green spaces, tackling graffiti and upgrading play areas. Furthermore, I will collaborate with local community groups and businesses, drawing on their insights to strengthen the infrastructure and foster growth throughout Staveley North. I promise to regularly meet with residents, discussing your concerns and feeding these back to relevant council departments and official bodies . By staying engaged and informed, I intend to influence council policy and champion positive changes whenever necessary.
